FAQs

What start dates are available?

Orientations are held at least twice a month, with additional dates added during peak season. As spots on this program fill up very quickly, we ask that you contact your Travel Coordinator to discuss live availability before reserving any non-refundable flights.

What makes Sydney a great choice to start my working holiday?

Sydney is the iconic Australian destination, with countless tourist destinations to make your friends and family back home jealous! With a large number of immigrants, Sydney is a cultural melting pot that has plenty of services available to those who have just arrived. Plus, the beautiful weather and golden beaches make it a perfect blend of city and seaside living.

How do you help me find a job?

When it comes to finding work, we will give you hints and tips for securing a position in the lead-up to your departure. We will provide advice on where to look for a role, and will review your resume to make sure it meets international standards. When you arrive, the in-country team will continue to support you by helping with your tax file number and will arrange a 1-on-1 employment meeting to help you find a suitable position.

What kind of jobs do most backpackers get in Sydney?

The penalty rates in New South Wales mean that many people actually want to do shift work, as the wages are so good! Many participants find work in the hospitality industry, often covering events or seasonal roles to provide flexibility. Construction is another popular choice, as often this allows you to finish work early and enjoy the Sydney sunshine. Downtown there are plenty of corporate positions available for those hoping to find an office job. For those who would like a more iconic job, the popular tourist attractions often hire backpackers while offering discounted entry for staff to other venues.

Bondi, Manly, Palm... Which Sydney beach is best?

It depends on what you are looking for! Bondi is a very cool suburb, with lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Although it is iconic, this beach is often crowded and some areas have issues with rip tides so it may not be the most relaxing destination. Manly beach is longer than Bondi, meaning it has more space to spread out and relax. However, the ferry can be costly and wait times to board on the weekend can be long. Best known as the setting for the long-running Australian TV show ‘Home and Away’, Palm Beach is beautiful and quiet. It is about an hour’s drive from downtown, so although it is amazing it may not be convenient for commuters. Why stick to a well-known beach though? With over 100 beaches to choose from, there are plenty of other options available! Try Maroubra Beach with the Mahon Rock pools, Frenchmans Bay & historic Bare Island or Garie Beach in the nearby Royal National Park.
