FAQs

How much do I need to save before departure?

The more you can save before you depart, the easier your transition to life in Europe will be! In addition to your proof of funds, we recommend budgeting around $2,000 CAD to cover your flights, travel insurance and arrival accommodation in France. If you plan on travelling a bit before settling down, you should budget at least $500 a week for basic expenses, but more if you are a bit of a flashpacker.

Where do I submit my application for a French working holiday visa?

Your initial application will be submitted online, but you will also need to attend an in-person appointment in either Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa or Montreal.

Can Canadians work in France? For how long?

Canadians can work in France for up to 2 years on a Working Holiday Visa. Talk to one of our Travel Coordinators to find out more!

Is it hard to get a work visa for France?

Not if you go with Stepabroad! We will walk you through the visa application process step by step and we will review all your documentation before your in-person appointment to make sure everything is in order.

What is the cost of living like in France?

This is very dependent on where you live. Paris will be very similar to Vancouver or Toronto in terms of rental costs. However, groceries, phone plans and utilities tend to be cheaper in France than here in Canada. Most other cities in France will have much cheaper rental prices, making them more affordable and authentic.
