FAQs

How long does the Spain Working Holiday Visa process take?

Processing times can vary depending on your local consulate, but most participants will receive their visa in around three to four months after beginning the application. Once your visa is approved, you will have 90 days to enter Spain and activate your work permit.

Can I apply for this program if I don’t live in Canada?

Unfortunately, it is a requirement of this visa that you are a current resident of Canada to be eligible to apply. Your supporting documents must be gathered in Canada, and you will need to submit your passport for processing while awaiting your visa decision. The consulate is strict with this requirement and may ask for additional documentation to prove your residency if they have any suspicion that you may not be residing in your home province.

Do I have to submit my application in person?

This will depend on which catchment area you fall under, as the rules vary between provinces. Thanks to our Recognized Organization (RO) status designated by International Experience Canada (IEC), Stepabroad has been able to negotiate an agreement with the Toronto Consulate for Spain that allows us to verify documentation remotely via mail. Participants living in Ontario (excluding the National Capital Region), Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon, Northwest Territories or Nunavut will be able to complete their applications without attending an in-person appointment. Unfortunately, this is not yet possible for residents of other provinces, who will need to visit either the Montreal or Ottawa consulates to complete their submissions.
