Phillip Island Nature Park has a dedicated Animal Ethics committee committed to ensuring that the penguins’ natural behaviours are protected while tourists enjoy the penguin parade. Boardwalks have been strategically placed to keep tourists separated from the penguins and prevent them from interfering with the wildlife. Photography is not permitted while viewing the penguins, as the bright lights can disorientate them and frighten them. These penguins are completely wild and have been nesting in the Phillip Island area for many years. Any profits made from ticket sales are all reinvested into conservation, research, education, wildlife rescue, and environmental activities on the island.
